Optimisation of Hospital Emergency Management.

Definition

Development of a predictive model to analyse the functioning of the Department Hospital’s Emergency Department, as well as to anticipate the arrival of patients, in order to improve the planning of the different medical specialities, healthcare personnel and hospital infrastructure.

The ultimate goal is to have reliable prediction tools for the number of hospitalisations in a given time interval, enabling advance and efficient management of available resources, thus improving the hospital’s response capacity to healthcare demand.

Origin of the use case

The Comprehensive Emergency Analysis use case was created to respond to one of the main challenges facing the healthcare system, which is to provide fast, safe and high-quality care in the face of growing demand for emergency services. The need to improve organisation, reduce waiting times and optimise resources makes it essential to have a comprehensive and up-to-date overview of how the service operates.

The analysis includes a set of indicators that provide an in-depth understanding of healthcare activity. It studies the percentage of assigned patient emergencies, the distribution by severity levels, the performance of triage and the cases that require admission or observation. It also analyses care times, average length of stay, delays, the origin of emergencies, reasons for consultation, discharge circumstances, the return rate within 72 hours and mortality.

Emergency proposes a platform that integrates all healthcare, operational, and population information into a single environment. This makes it possible to detect inefficiencies, anticipate

The Integra Cloud
solution

  • Integra Cloud offers a solution to improve the functioning of emergency services, bringing together in a single space all the information needed to understand and manage their daily activity. Thanks to this platform, hospitals can have a complete and up-to-date view of the service, facilitating faster and more accurate decision-making.
  • The system analyses data to detect patterns of high demand, optimise the distribution of staff and resources, and improve patient prioritisation through more accurate triage. It also helps to reduce waiting times by identifying points where delays occur and allows peaks in demand or risk situations to be anticipated thanks to advanced predictive models.
  • This tool promotes data-driven management, facilitating informed decision-making and strengthening hospitals’ ability to provide more agile, safe and efficient care.

Results

The implementation of this system optimises resource management in emergency departments, reducing waiting times and operating costs. Improved prioritisation and care flows increase the efficiency of healthcare personnel and offer a more streamlined and satisfactory experience for citizens.

Constant monitoring of key indicators such as 72-hour return rates, cubicle occupancy, and triage and medical care times facilitates the early detection of opportunities for improvement and enables preventive action to be taken. This results in faster, more decisive and safer care, promoting a hospital management model focused on quality of care and sustainability.

Beyond the operational benefits, this tool has a direct impact on the population by improving the safety and speed of service, reducing readmissions and promoting a more responsible use of public resources. All of this contributes to a more sustainable, equitable and accessible healthcare system.

In short, Integra Cloud transforms data into useful knowledge, promoting a more humane, efficient and continuously improving emergency care model.
