Ethics and security to ensure data protection

Integra Cloud poses significant ethical, legal and social challenges that must be addressed by implementing appropriate security measures and protocols, privacy and protection, to ensure that all ethical concerns and duties are optimally addressed. This ensures that the project complies with national and European Union legislation.

What is Responsible Research and Innovation?

To anticipate and assess the possible implications and expectations of society regarding research and innovation, there is a European mechanism, which is Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI), which arises within the framework of the Horizon 2020 program.

The main contributions of RRI are:

  • Quality
Improve the quality, relevance and impact of scientific projects.
  • Governance
Creation of governance mechanisms that involve the different actors of the health system.
  • Social
Encourage trust and social support for science through the design of protocols that respect human and animal rights.
  • Dissemination
Carrying out dissemination and education activities to bring science closer to citizens.
  • Equality
Promotion of gender equality and diversity in research teams.
  • Digital
Use of digital platforms to share data and results in an open and accessible way.

RRI Principles in
Integra Cloud

The aim of this tool is to foster inclusive and sustainable research and innovation, open and transparent, anticipatory and reflective, sensitive and adaptive, capable of responding to current social challenges and adapting to emerging knowledge and needs.
To this end, it develops six pillars:

Ethics

Ethics

Research and innovation must respect fundamental rights and adhere to the highest ethical standards. In this line, Integra Cloud is aligned with social values, reflecting on the ideas and concerns of society. This platform seeks to contribute to the creation of an inclusive, sustainable and responsible digital ecosystem.

Governance

Governance

There is a collective responsibility for the impact of research and innovation and participatory governance is essential to address new challenges, in a transparent and reflective way. Therefore, Integra Cloud will create a participatory governance framework with the different actors of the Valencian health system, which will give confidence to the project.

Open Science

Open Science

The results of research and innovation funded with public funds must be accessible and transparent, both publications and data derived from them. Integra Cloud has an open website and social networks, public demonstrations, press releases and informative videos. These explain the use cases to the scientific community and the citizens.

Citizen Participation

Citizen Participation

Bringing society closer to decisions on research and innovation policies makes them more legitimate. Integra Cloud advocates for a citizen participation model that takes into account the opinions of users after the public demonstrations of each use case. They will serve to improve the project for new development phases.

Scientific Education

Scientific Education

Promote scientific education, training and critical thinking to facilitate educational opportunities linked to their research and ensure a better future for science. INCLIVA has been organizing visits of educational centers to its facilities for years. Integra Cloud also participates in these trainings, including the viewing of a video that explains the project.

Gender equality

Gender equality

Gender equality is a priority in the European Research Area and involves promoting diverse teams and ensuring equality in decision-making bodies. It is also a priority for the Generalitat Valenciana and INCLIVA. Integra Cloud is a project with a multidisciplinary team, which ensures that the gender dimension is present to improve the quality and social relevance of the results.

Data protection

Data protection is a human right that arises linked to the norm approved by the General Assembly of the United Nations in 1948 with the aim of guaranteeing dignity against the invasion that involves the excessive collection and processing of personal data.

Its ultimate goal is to establish a framework of guarantees that makes possible the exercise of fundamental rights and freedoms of people, to prevent the use of personal information from being used against them.

In Spain it is regulated through the application of Regulation 2016/679 of the EC and Organic Law 3/2018 on Data Protection and Guarantee of Digital Rights (LODYGDD).
